In Cinema 4D all the deformers share some attributes and understanding these relationship will help you better understand deformers and help you put them to work for you in your Cinema 4D creations.
Cinema 4D can be a bit complicated and it’s flexibility is also one of it’s learning bumps. You can do so much but there is so much to learn in how all these different controls and special effects work together free 3d models. Getting a handle on some of the basics is one of the best ways to get over the hump and seeing what a group of special effects share and how to apply them to the rest of your creation is a great helper.
These are some useful guidelines and qualities that all deformers share.
Deformers work on primitives, groups, and splines. All deformers are applied by making them a child of the object you want them to act upon. You can apply multiple deformers on a single object but be careful, it’s easy to have way too much fun and get carried away.
Because of the nature of deformers, the object they act upon needs enough subdivisions to show the effect and will almost usually provide greater flexibility with more.
Like most Cinema 4D effects and actions, your position for the deformer in relation to it’s target will effect the deformer action. For example, if you bend a tower, moving the bend deformer several feet away will shift the focal point, the center of the bending action. This is also true for scaling and rotation. Using all these adjustments creates a different application of the deformer action and enhances the tools in your toolbox. This ability to shift the axis of action for your deformer also helps place it in relation to the other objects on your stage, have the object bend over the sidewalk or scale towards a flying object free 3d models.
Like nearly every adjustment in Cinema 4D, deformers can be keyed and this might be the most fun of all. Imagine sci-fi movies where objects begin growing out of the ground, glowing in the sky, or scaling and twisting into unpredictable shapes. The very idea of deformation suggests powerful forces, tornadoes, power beams from outer space. Each deformer has some special and unique attributes that it uses but in the example of a bend deformer, you can key the strength and angle of the action.
Nearly all deformers have a strength attribute that can be keyed. Cinema provides scatter and explosion deformers and you can imagine how keying the strength value offers critical timing for the reality you are depicting free 3d models. Learning more about each deformer’s characteristics will help you and your imagination create lifelike behaviors that add more life to your story.
